The advancements in deep learning and edge computing have driven artificial intelligence (AI) applications to the edge. However, challenges such as heterogeneous, resource-constrained edge devices, inference congestion, and dynamic environments hinder the development of edge intelligence (EI). To maximize the average quality of service (QoS) for EI, we formulate an optimization problem that aims to balance inference latency and accuracy while con…

  • The impact of work–family conflict on early childhood teachers’ occupational well-being

Open Access•Liqun Wang, Tianqi Qiao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Purpose: The occupational well-being of early childhood teachers, as a crucial measure of the stability of the early childhood workforce, is increasingly becoming a core topic of interest within the education system. Work-related stressors, particularly work-family conflict, have drawn significant attention for their impact on the occupational well-being of early childhood teachers, becoming a prominent issue in the education field. However, curr…

  • Structures under nominalization

Open Access•Chen Wang, Wang Chen•ARTICLE•Language and Linguistics 語言暨語言學•2025

This paper means to make a comparative study of the nominals denoting an event in Mandarin and English. I propose that although English has three types of eventive nominals — simple event nominal, Referential (R-) nominal, and Argument Structure (AS-) nominal — Mandarin has only simple event nominals. The category shifting, which is required in the derivation of R-nominals and AS-nominals in English, is an operation unavailable in Mandarin, a res…

  • Exploring the image language of Mongolian painting from the perspective of regional culture

Open Access•Wang Chen, Narantsatsral Delgerkhuu•ARTICLE•Mongolyn soël, urlag sudlal•2024

Mongolian painting art is influenced by the regional characteristics of Mongolia, and is distinct from other regions and has its unique features. The language of painting images is an artistic expression that combines the creator’s subjective consciousness with objective aims; it is a way for the creator to express emotions and also a bridge for communication between the creator and the viewer. Through the study of the diversity of modern paintin…

  • A categorisation solution to the incompleteness puzzle in Mandarin

Chen Wang, Wang Chen•ARTICLE•The Linguistic Review•2024

This paper means to re-examine the source of incompleteness for a clause with a bare verb as predicate and no other markings in Mandarin. I propose that the reason comes from the need for categorial labels at the syntax-semantic interface to produce a clear interpretation. Since there are no grammatical affixes marking category V available in Mandarin, it has to make use of functional morphemes which shape their complement space categorially. The…

  • Robots abide by ethical principles promote human-robot trust? The reverse effect of decision types and the human-robot projection hypothesis

Wang Chen, CHEN Weicong et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2024

  • Dynamic Changes in Soil Phosphorus Accumulation and Bioavailability in Phosphorus-Contaminated Protected Fields

Open Access•Hongyue Liang, Chen Wang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Soil phosphorus accumulation resulting in a high risk of phosphorus pollution is due to high multiple vegetable cropping indexes and excessive fertilizer input in protected fields. Therefore, this study explored the bioavailability of soil-accumulated phosphorus to improve fertilization and reduce the risk of soil phosphorus contamination in protected fields. A field trial was performed in Yanbian Prefecture, China to study the phosphorus bioavai…

  • Pareidolia in a Built Environment as a Complex Phenomenological Ambiguous Stimuli

Open Access•Chen Wang, Wang Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Pareidolia is a kind of misperception caused by meaningless, ambiguous stimuli perceived with meaning. Pareidolia in a built environment may trigger the emotions of residents, and the most frequently observed pareidolian images are human faces. Through a pilot experiment and an in-depth questionnaire survey, this research aims to compare built environmental pareidolian phenomena at different time points (6 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 a.m.) and to determine …

  • Evaluation Method for Quality Risks of Safety in Prefabricated Building Construction Using SEM–SDM Approach

Open Access•Xiaojuan Li, Chen Wang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The construction of prefabricated buildings is an effective and efficient approach to improving construction processes and productivity. However, there are practical problems in this approach, such as listing, safety risk levels, and quality control. This study aims to develop a systematic approach for determining the key factors affecting prefabricated building projects' quality and safety risk and assessing this risk. Based on the literature re…

  • Altered Brain Signal Variability in Patients With Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Open Access•Liyuan Li, Yifeng Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by a chronic, continuous symptom of worry and exaggerated startle response. Although functional abnormality in GAD has been widely studied using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), the dynamic signatures of GAD are not fully understood. As a vital index of brain function, brain signal variability (BSV) reflects the capacity of state transition of neural activities. In this study, we re…

  • Effects of Temperature on the Characteristics of Nitrogen Removal and Microbial Community in Post Solid-Phase Denitrification Biofilter Process

Open Access•Qian Zhang, Xue Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

In order to solve the problems of high energy consumption, complex process and low nitrogen removal efficiency in the currently available low carbon source wastewater treatment processes, a novel coagulation sedimentation/post-solid-phase denitrification biofilter process (CS-BAF-SPDB) was proposed. The effect of temperature on the nitrogen removal performance of BAF-SPDB was intensively studied, and the mechanism of the effect of temperature on …
