  • Incipient Development and Vocational Evolution in Dominica

    William Rodgers, William Blake Rodgers•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1971•References: 10

More specifically, it was asserted that differential exposure to economic development (an environmental variable) would lead the two populations to change their vocational preferences (a system variable) …

The relationships between observable changes in sociocultural behavior on the one hand and underlying value systems on the other is examined in two communities that stem from a single sociocultural tradition but that recently diverged because of differential exposure to economic development. Value preferences of individuals in each community were elicited by structured questionnaires, which allowed operational measurement of values and statistica…

  • Male Models and Sexual Identification

    William Blake Rodgers, John M Long•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1968•Cited by: 5

The indirect side-effects of economic development in underdeveloped areas constitute a problem of considerable importance in planning any type of aid programs. In this paper, we try to document a case in which economic development has led to personality change in the children of a developing community. Specifically, our purpose is to describe an "experiment" which explored the relationship in a "natural laboratory" between the presence or absence…
