  • Systematic literature review on climate change adaptation strategies in Africa

Kafayat A Alobaloke, Olaoluwa S Yaya et al.•ARTICLE•Climate and Development•2025

Future risks of climate impact on the African continent due to socio-economic vulnerabilities and environmental degradation highlight the need for evidence-based adaptation options documented in the literature. Furthermore, the traditional reviewing approaches, such as narrative, systematic, and bibliometric, offer valuable insights into patterns of research productivity, emerging trends, and areas of potential impact of research papers published…

  • Model-free and model-based connectedness in highly, medium and lowly correlated financial returns

    Open Access•Luis A Gil-Alana, Olaoluwa S Yaya et al.•ARTICLE•Quality & Quantity•2025

This paper deals with the analysis of inflation in financial returns by using model-free connectedness framework which includes investigating persistence in the series and data from 22 countries from April 1958 to November 2023 which are grouped into highly, medium and lowly correlated returns. The results indicate that 10 countries, among the members of G12 are listed among highly-medium correlated inflation returns. The G7 countries are listed …

  • A new fractional integration approach based on neural network nonlinearity with an application to testing unemployment hysteresis

    Open Access•Fumitaka Furuoka, Luis A Gil-Alana et al.•ARTICLE•Empirical Economics•2024

This paper proposes a nonlinear fractional unit root approach which is known as the autoregressive neural network–fractional integration (ARNN–FI) test. This new fractional integration test is based on a new multilayer perceptron of a neural network process, proposed in Yaya et al. (Oxf Bull Econ Stat 83(4):960–981, 2021). The asymptotic theory and the properties of the proposed test are given. By setting up a Monte Carlo simulation experiment, t…

  • Unemployment hysteresis in Middle East and North Africa countries

Oladapo Gbenga Awolaja, Olaoluwa S Yaya et al.•ARTICLE•Middle East Development Journal•2021

Unemployment hysteresis of Middle East and North African (MENA) countries is investigated under a battery of unit root testing frameworks in the extant literature, including a recently proposed Panel SUR Dickey-Fuller-like unit root test with Fourier and Exponential Smooth Transition Regression (ESTR) nonlinearities. The Fourier function allows for smooth nonlinear breaks, while the ESTR nonlinearity allows for instantaneous breaks. The two nonli…

  • A New Unit Root Test for Unemployment Hysteresis Based on the Autoregressive Neural Network

Open Access•Olaoluwa S Yaya, Ahamuefula E Ogbonna et al.•ARTICLE•Oxford Bulletin of Economics and…•2021

This paper proposes a nonlinear unit root test based on the autoregressive neural network process for testing unemployment hysteresis. In this new unit root testing framework, the linear, quadratic and cubic components of the neural network process are used to capture the nonlinearity in a given time series data. The theoretical properties of the test are developed, while the size and the power properties are examined in a Monte Carlo simulation …

  • Under-5 Mortality Rates in G7 Countries

    Open Access•Olaoluwa S Yaya, Luis A Gil-Alana et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Population /…•2019•References: 30

  • Socio-Demographic Correlates of Volunteerism among Undergraduate Students at North-West University, South Africa

Acheampong Yaw Amoateng, Marilyn B Setlalentoa et al.•ARTICLE•Society in Transition•2017

This article reports on a study that used a sample of undergraduate students at the North-West University, Mafikeng Campus, South Africa, to examine the effect of selected sociodemographic factors on the participation of voluntary activities amongst youth who have been exposed to the country’s higher education system. Specifically, the binary logit regression model was employed to analyse the effects of sociodemographic factors, such as age, gend…
