  • “But is it Journalism?” Reflections on Online Informational Roles and Content Creation Practices of a Sample of South African Lawyers

Open Access•Heather Robertson, Heather C Robertson et al.•ARTICLE•African Journalism Studies•2019

In the era of social media, journalism is no longer the preserve of journalists. In specialised fields, such as law, the public in general and lawyers and legal academics specifically are able to “push in” and report and comment publicly on legal matters including trials, commissions, acts of law passed in parliament and other legal processes. These contributions, as this paper explores, are reshaping the contours and content of public discussion…

  • The sun and the Rösaring ceremonial road

Emília Pásztor, Curt Roslund et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Archaeology•2000•Cited by: 1

A well-built roadway from the early Viking Age at the Rösaring archaeological site in central Sweden is assumed by archaeologists to have been used for processions. The road is here examined in relation to its environment, the sun and the moon, the Milky Way and the rainbow. The aim was to extend landscape archaeology to include natural phenomena and their impact on prehistoric monuments as an aid to conventional archaeology. The play of sunlight…

  • Latent Inhibition

    Bikram Dasgupta, G B Biederman et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•1988•References: 1

The inhibitory effect of repeated nonreinforced preexposure of a to-be-conditioned stimulus (latent inhibition) was studied in a 2 × 2 factorial design. In conditioning trials, response-contingent shock facilitated conditioning and had a relatively greater effect in stimulus preexposure groups than in control groups without preexposure. Response-contingent shock significantly decreased the response rate during conditioning trials, suggesting that…

  • Observational Learning and the Role of Confinement in Pigeons

Heather Robertson, Heather A Robertson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•1985•References: 1

Observational learning of a successive discrimination problem by pigeons was studied using conspecifics as models responding for either contingent or noncontingent reinforcement. We found that observation of these models was associated with poorer performance on subsequent testing than was shown by a control group that learned without first observing conspecifics' performance. No significant difference was found between subjects without observati…

  • Observational Learning in Pigeons

Marina Vanayan, Heather Robertson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•1985

Observational learning of a successive visual discrimination problem by pigeons was studied using conspecifics as models performing at proficient or at nonproficient levels. During the observational period, observers were confined without response opportunity and were subsequently trained in the model's discriminative task. Significantly better performance in subsequent learning was found for observers of nonproficient models. In contrast, no sig…
