  • Development and Validation of a Life-Success Measures Scale

    This paper describes development and validation of an instrument measuring life-success values related to the domains of both work and personal life. The results ( N = 756) from two studies identified six forms of life-success, finding that values of success in work and personal lives were significantly correlated with affective work behaviors. The implications for managing a workforce with varied life-success values are discussed

  • Effects of Generation and Sex on Dimensions of Life Success

    Six dimensions of life success were assessed for three generations of U.S. working women and men: those under 26 years, those born between 1946–1964 (the baby-boom), and people over 43 years. Some generational differences were noted among the 716 people studied, but sex appeared to be a better predictor of life success scores than did age The sex gap may be closing for the youngest group of workers

    A study of 556 working women and men examined the relationship between degree of sex-role conflict and age of the individual. For both women and men, mean sex-role conflict scores were significantly greater at age 26 to 39 yr. than at age 40 and over.
