  • Carbon farming

Open Access•Martin Hvarregaard Thorsøe, Ennio Facq et al.•ARTICLE•Land Use Policy•2025•References: 48

Enhancing carbon sequestration while maintaining and improving the soil ecosystem services of agricultural soils, including managed peatland, is an important lever for mitigating climate change in the Land-Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry sector. This can be achieved through the application of a mix of agricultural practices that may reward farmers in a green business model, often referred to as carbon farming (CF). To ensure the credibility of …

  • Give and take

    Open Access•Mary Ollier, Stéphane de Cara•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2024•References: 1

The potential regressivity of an emission tax is a major obstacle to the implementation of this otherwise cost-effective instrument. Rebates may help overcome this difficulty. Their distributional consequences depend on their design and the distribution of agents’ initial emissions and abatement costs. We develop a stylized analytical framework to derive general conditions under which a tax-and-rebate scheme increases income inequality and compar…

  • Halving mineral nitrogen use in European agriculture

Open Access•Anna Lungarska, Thierry Brunelle et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Economic Perspectives and…•2023

This paper explores the effects of a public policy that reduces by 50% the use of mineral nitrogen in European agriculture. Our results show that, for the European Union, halving mineral fertilizer use leads to: a decrease in agricultural production, a substantial increase in nitrogen use efficiency, lower use of organic fertilizer and a loss of agricultural competitiveness. At the global level, it leads to greater nitrogen consumption if no meas…

  • Identifying cost-competitive greenhouse gas mitigation potential of French agriculture

    Open Access•Sylvain Pellerin, Laure Bamière et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Policy•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 1

  • Price-Induced Changes in Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use

  • Global land-use implications of first and second generation biofuel targets

Open Access•Peter Havlík, Petr Havlík et al.•ARTICLE•Energy Policy•2011

  • Marginal abatement costs of greenhouse gas emissions from European agriculture, cost effectiveness, and the EU non-ETS burden sharing agreement
