  • The Supply of Conspiracism in State-Controlled Media

    Gabriel Koehler‐derrick, Gabriel Koehler-Derrick et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Politics•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 44

When, and why, do governments promote conspiracy theories and use conspiracist language in official media? We build on claims that autocrats use misinformation for diversionary purposes by showing that the level of threat a regime faces affects conspiracism: a mix of “classic” conspiracy theorizing and conspiratorial language. Governments facing threats may attempt to stave them off by promoting conspiracy theories in state media. By contrast, se…

  • Praxis

    Open Access•Richard P Nielsen•CHAPTER•Wiley Encyclopedia of Management•2015

Ethics praxis is ethical action that makes the actor a better person and the world a better place. It is action that is an end in itself. According to Bernstein (1971, ix), “The Greek term ‘praxis’ has an ordinary meaning that roughly corresponds to the ways in which we now commonly speak of ‘action’ or ‘doing,’ and it is frequently translated into English as ‘practice.’” As Bernstein (1971) interprets Aristotle, a contrast is made between two di…

  • Serving two masters: Transformative resolutions to institutional contradictions

Rich Dejordy, Brad Almond et al.•CHAPTER•Religion And Organization Theory•2014

In particular, building on existing research on conflicting institutional logics, we assess the most common forms of resolution (replacement, dominant logic, decoupling, compartmentalization, and coexistence) and identify the potential for a new form of resolution – a trans…
