  • Doctoral-level counselor educators and program experiences across Carnegie Classifications

    Based on online survey data provided by 163 counselor educators associated with counselor education and supervision programs, this study examined the extent to which Carnegie Classifications were associated with counselor educators' occupational experiences and their perceptions of doctoral-level training. Implications for doctoral training in counselor education and supervision are discussed

  • Occupational Outcomes of Counselor Education Graduates From 2014 to 2022

    This study cataloged the occupational outcomes attained by 2946 counselor education graduates who completed their doctoral degrees between 2014 and 2022. A position as a full-time counselor educator was the most common occupation; this outcome could be predicted from the institutional affiliations, Carnegie Classifications, and locations of graduates' doctoral-degree-granting universities

  • Reexamination of doctoral-level counselor educators' journal article publication norms

    This study reexamined the journal article publication norms of counselor educators employed in doctoral programs for the years 2017-2022. Compared to earlier studies, overall publication norms for this population declined but increased for counselor educators with traditional academic ranks.     This study examined the relationships between three sex-related variables (client sex, therapist sex, and dyad matching on sex) and continuation in counseling. 245 college students who were clients at three university counseling centers participated.
