La tragédie grecque et l’histoire

Après une étude rapide des rares tragédies qui empruntent leur sujet à l’histoire, S. Saïd propose une analyse des rapports complexes ente la tragédie et l’histoire dans la critique contemporaine. Après une critique de la « méthode historique » illustrée par les travaux d’E. Delebecque, R. Goossens et A. Podlecki qui s’attachent aux allusions ponctuelles à l’actualité politique et à ses acteurs, elle rend compte des travaux plus récents qui tentent de définir plus largement « le moment historique de la tragédie » et mettent l’accent sur un message politique qui permet, grâce à la distance instaurée par le mythe, une exploration des relations entre l’élite et la masse et une « négociation » entre leurs intérêts respectifs
