In the wake of the increased output orientation in vocational education and training, the issue of the conditional factors governing learning outcomes also needs to be addressed. Reliable instruments capable of assessing training conditions are required in order to expose these correlations. However, for this purpose there are hardly any instruments available so far. The present paper introduces a new instrument for the identification of company-based training quality in the form of a questionnaire, the aim being for young people to assess their company learning environment across a total of eight scales. These cover the work tasks themselves as well as processes of interaction with trainers and colleagues and pressure aspects within the training procedure. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses using data from two independent samples of trainees corroborate the structure of eight correlating factors. The concluding section of the paper debates the implications for research and the use of the questionnaire in practice
