This chapter discusses the role of educational leaders as moral and ethical agents who are simultaneously bound by laws and legal doctrines. It examines the moral, ethical, and legal principles that underpin the very foundation of education. Educational leaders are moral and ethical agents who are simultaneously bound by laws and legal doctrines. The prominence of legal issues in schools is revealed quite publicly through legislative enactments, court decisions, and an array of rules and regulations at both the federal and state levels of governance. Ethical standards and competencies are an emerging focus for school leaders who are expected to act according to moral and legal principles to protect the educational rights of all children. Law and ethics are undoubtedly related topics, but understanding the differences between legal dimensions of administrative leadership is especially important. Applying ethical principles to daily decision making affords the leader the opportunity to make decisions that are ethically sound
