This study investigates the awareness of responsible consumption among pre-service teachers at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Using a validated scale, the research assessed economic, social, and environmental dimensions of responsible consumption among 210 final-year Primary Education students. Additional open-ended questions explored their habits and attitudes. Data, collected via an online questionnaire in December 2023, revealed that students have low awareness in social and environmental aspects, while showing greater concern for the economic dimension. Economic motives largely drive their consumption choices. Significant differences emerged based on campus location and residence, with rural students demonstrating the lowest awareness. The results highlight the urgent need to integrate responsible consumption more thoroughly into teacher training programs. Specifically, there should be a greater focus on the social and environmental consequences of consumption and the promotion of responsible habits. Embedding these themes early in teacher education is essential for fostering future educators committed to sustainability
