This study aimed to identify the most significant childhood songs for students in the Early Childhood Education Degree and their families. Participants completed a questionnaire about one song that marked their childhood. They described when, where, and how they learned it, and reported the emotions and memories it evoked. Qualitative and quantitative techniques were used to analyse the results. The results indicated that participants mostly preferred popular songs, which were often transmitted through technological media. This finding suggests that technology and communication channels play a central role in shaping children’s cultural identity. Educators should consider strategies to enrich children’s sound environment by integrating traditional transmission methods with new media
