The aim of the article is to present possible manipulations of auspices during the decline of the Roman Republic in relation to situations related to electoral assemblies. The starting point is a discussion of concepts related to auspices, with particular emphasis on terms such as servare de caelo and obnuntiatio. The author indicates interpretation difficulties related to the analysis of source texts. Therefore, when we take them into account and the fact that assemblies in late-republican Rome were held every year and that so many officials were elected there, any manipulation of auspices in electoral practice seems unlikely
