This article analyzes the French higher education system, particularly the Grandes Ecoles, as a field structured homologously to the social space and the field of power. It argues that the system reproduces social inequalities by selecting students based on criteria that reinforce existing class distinctions. The Grandes Ecoles, occupying the dominant pole within the higher education field, are further divided between 'intellectual' schools and 'schools of power,' mirroring the division between intellectual/artistic and economic/political poles within the field of power. This structure perpetuates social reproduction, not through hereditary succession, but through a complex system of objective and subjective selection mechanisms that distribute individuals into homogenous classes, thereby legitimizing social differences
