This paper presents an analysis of scientifi c communications published\nin the IV Mathematical Modeling National Conference (CNMEM in the Brazilian\nabbreviation), which took place in 2005. The analysis consists of a meta-analytical and\ncontent qualitative approach, aided by the software Atlas T.i. The data collected was\noriginated in the above mentioned conference which is the fi rst of the three which will\nbe analyzed in the study that aims to unveil the research on Mathematical Modeling\nin Brazil. The categories established in this paper and which will be interpreted are: a)\nMeta-study on Mathematics Modeling; b) Modeling application; c) Articulation between\nModeling and other theories, and d) Modeling and teachers education
