Education is a practical profession. Like other professions, such as criminal justice, social work, and public administration, it takes as its task the production of some social good. The social good being promoted in this case is learning, whether it is thought of in the restricted sense of schooling or the more extended sense of education (Bereiter, 1972). Curricular phenomena are central to education and are characterized by Walker (1981) as follows
Curriculum · Curriculum development · Curriculum theory · Education theory · Epistemology · Higher education · Mathematics education · Pedagogy · Political science · Social justice · Social science · Social theory · Sociology · Task (project management · Educational Environments and Student Outcomes · Educational Theory and Curriculum Studies · Law · Psychology · Teacher Education and Leadership Studies
