In this study, we analyzed the conversations and verbal and non-verbal interactions of seven family groups during a visit to the Museum of Nature (Piauí, Brazil), with the aim of understanding emotional responses in relation to science. Data were collected with the aid of a subjective camera used by a family member to record the visit from their point of view and analyzed using qualitative software to identify emotion descriptors. A sociocultural and demographic questionnaire was applied to contextualize the families. The results show that the multisensory characteristic of the exhibition triggered positive and negative emotions in the families, and both contributed to the learning experiences and the joint construction of meaning resulting from the families' interest, motivations, knowledge and previous experiences. The occurrence of emotions with a high degree of excitement indicates that the visit was pleasurable and involved families cognitively and emotionally with science
