New proposals to help learning processes in the stages of childhood and adolescence arise permanently; this is how the term self-regulation has become familiar to professionals of education in the classroom. However, there is still a lack of theoretical and practical knowledge to consciously promote this aspect in academic fields. Therefore, this research presents Zimmerman and Pintrich's theoretical approaches; a reliable, consistent, and articulated guide in the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm frame of the Society of Jesus' schools to promote selfregulation in learning for strengthening academic achievement. This research is primarily performed by taking into account aspects from students' interpretations about learning and self-control and contrasting them with the phases presented by the authors in order to propose alternatives accompanying self-regulation in learning and incorporate these elements to the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm
