Occipital and lambdoidal types of artificial cranial deformation and undeformed crania were observed on 188 inhumations from the 14th century Grasshopper site. The results of a previous study were utilized to investigate possible relationships between status and deformation type. The present study indicates a predominance of occipital deformation over the lambdoidally deformed and undeformed types. However, no significant differences were found to occur between the reputed “high” and “low” status groups at the site. The feasibility of such a test is demonstrated for the benefit of future investigations
