Research on school transitions focuses on the relationship between student characteristics and their educational outcomes at various levels of schooling. On the one hand, some individuals transition successfully and perform well academically, and adjust well psychologically in their new level of education. On the other hand, others face obstacles or barriers in their transition, which creates problems in making a smooth transition into their new level of schooling
