The Planning, Implementation, and Assessment of an International Internship Program

This exploratory case study reported the planning, implementation, and assessment of an international internship undertaken in a Taiwanese company by an American university student who was operating independently abroad. The model required the student to establish learning objectives, self‐assess language use and learning strategies, and engage in critical reflection. Weekly oral journals and pre/post language proficiency test results revealed substantial progress in Chinese linguistic skills and deeper professional knowledge
