The orienting response, a notion derived by psychologists using physiological measures, provides a possible link between GSR and such important, communication effects as memory, learning and social influence. A Finn has demonstrated a way in which GSR may provide insights into the influence wielded by a film as it is being shown. There are important implications for research in such diverse fields as advertising, education, and public relations
