The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between life positions and employee subjective well-being. Moreover, utility of life positions in predicting employee subjective well-being beyond other relevant constructs, such as attachment style, core evaluations, and regulatory focus, was investigated. Data were gathered from 276 academic and administrative employees of a public university via questionnaires. Correlation-based analyses revealed that life position dimensions of “I’m OK” and “You’re OK” were significantly and positively related with employee subjective well-being. Life positions did not overlap with attachment styles except for secure attachment. The “I’m OK” dimension was strongly related with core self-evaluations, and the “You’re OK” dimension was related with core external evaluations. Life position dimensions were positively associated with promotion focus, whereas they were negatively linked with prevention focus. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that only the “I’m OK” dimension had predictive utility in explaining additional variance in employee subjective well-being beyond other relevant constructs
