Les Americians anglophones du Sud-Ouest des Etats-Unis utilisent parfois la langue espagnole : 1) pour la nourriture bon marche, les plantes exotiques, les animaux et quelques lois ; 2) face aux touristes et aux refugies et enfin 3) les expressions espagnoles appartenant au registre de l'ironie. L'usage limite de l'Espagnol a des fins specifiques est a mettre en correlation avec le projet de domination sociale et economique des anglophones sur les hispanophones de la region
