An overview of the use in Mathematics of the Problem Solving teaching-learning process is presented. Our approach consists to verify how the BNCC and the PCN treat the Problem Solving strategies. The main purpose here is to address some of the ideas that Rio de Janeiro Public Schools teachers have about the Mathematical Problem Solving (RPM) course that was established in 2012 by the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Education (SEEDUC). A questionnaire was applied to the target group (school teachers) and a similar survey, developed in 2015, was used as a comparison tool. Once again, it was observed the lack of training for teachers to effectively work on the course. Despite various challenges mentioned, many teachers expressed support for the establishment of a course similar to RPM in municipal schools
